Sleeping routine
When you impatiently waiting for your new bundle of joy to arrive, you have all this people around you telling you to rest while you can because once the baby comes everything will change. Every child is different and even if it is your fifth child you can still be unprepared. The first few weeks are always the hardest until both you and your child get use to this new world.
The first few weeks my body was not use to waking up at night. I remember feeding him and trying to keep myself awake (it was really hard). I followed the saying “Sleep when the baby is sleeping”
Luckily for me, both my kids were pretty similar so I did the same routine for both of them.
In the first couple of months my kids were sleeping pretty much the whole day and night. They would just wake up to eat and then go pretty much back to sleep.
Both my kids put themselves to sleep since they were born. I never had to rock or play any sounds for them.
Their first feed would be around 5 am and then they would go back to sleep until 8 am. They would take a nap from 10 to 12 and then another nap from 3 to 5 pm. Every night before their bed time I shower them and around 9 pm I will put them to sleep. Before Anthony turned 1 he would sleep through the whole night without waking up. Vanessa is a different story. Some night she doesn’t wake up but other nights she does about 3-4 times a night for a feed and would go back to sleep. I’ve never had a sleepless night with those two for what I am more than Thankful!
Fast forward to their Current ages
Both Anthony and Vanessa are on the same sleeping schedule. They would sleep until 9 am (sometimes she wakes up earlier and he sleeps even more but he does love his sleep for sure). Both take a nap from 2 pm to 4-5 pm. She goes to sleep at 9:30 pm and he goes after 10:30 pm. I never planned of how their sleeping routine will be. I always went with the flow and the kid desires.
